The kids we’re teaching are the kids of the digital age. They have instant access to information at their fingertips. They love Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snap Chat. And while these sites are great for many reasons, the kids also rely on these sites to provide them with news – so much so – that these sites have become their main source of news information.
Unfortunately, this also means that these students – aged approximately from 11-18 – are increasingly vulnerable. This is why it’s vital that we educate our children on the dangers of the news they read online; the propaganda, the agendas, the fake news and the implications of it.
This unit of work caters for creative writing, letter writing, insightful debates and discussions, and even drama. Incorporate this Unit of Work into your lessons, and watch the fun unfold! It includes 4 one-hour Lesson Plans (which can be altered) and 3 easy to follow PowerPoints.
